People’s Post has been the trusted voice of the Southern Suburbs community for decades. People’s Post is a free weekly community newspaper distributed every Tuesday across the southern suburbs, Atlantic seaboard, and City Bowl areas of Cape Town. The newspaper offers six different editions, each tailored to specific neighborhoods, ensuring that local news and events are relevant to each community.
These editions include False Bay, Constantia/Wynberg, Rondebosch/Claremont, City Edition, Athlone/Lansdowne, Grassy Park/Retreat. Established to keep our community informed, People’s Post has become one of the most trusted and reliable sources of local news in the South. Our mission is to bring the readers the latest news, impactful stories, and insightful opinions.

WP Media and its newspaper titles are led by a dedicated team of journalists, editors, and community members who are passionate about providing meaningful news coverage to our readers.
Key team members:
- General Manager: Aletta Ellis – With over 21 years of experience in the community newspaper industry, Alet currently serves as a General Manager for the Western Cape community newspapers, leading a dedicated team to provide trusted local news and connect with the community. Passionate about both the impact of local journalism and the team that drives it, Alet is committed to fostering a collaborative and supportive environment while helping to shape the future of the community they serve.
- Editor: Thulani Magazi – Thulani completed his National Diploma in Journalism at Peninsula Technikon (Pentech), now known as the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) in 2002. He officially joined the industry as a reporter in 2003. He swiftly moved to a reporter/ sub-editor position in 2006. In 2008, he climbed the ladder to a team leader position. In 2011, Thulani enrolled and completed his B-Tech in Journalism at CPUT, achieving Cum Laude. He continued his team leader role until 2018 when he joined City Vision as the Editor. Three months into the role, his portfolio was expanded to incorporate People’s Post. He has been in the position for over six years. Thulani is goal-driven and wants to achieve great things with both the City Vision and People’s Post. His biggest achievement was when City Vision was named the winner of the Best Front Page for the 2023 Avobob FCJ Excellence Awards.
- Sales Manager: Shafiek Braaf – A Sales and Advertising Manager with over 20 years of experience in the media industry, he leads the sales teams at WP Media, overseeing three major community newspapers—TygerBurger, People’s Post, and City Vision. Passionate about print media, Shafiek sees community newspapers as the heartbeat of local storytelling, bridging the gap between businesses and engaged readers. In an evolving digital world, print remains a trusted, impactful platform, giving advertisers a tangible and lasting presence in the communities they serve.
