Entries are now open for the 2023 Miss Mitchell’s Plain Unbreakable Beauty Pageant, with proceeds going to a good cause.

Founded by Kayla Jenecker in 2022, the pageant includes various categories with women and girls of all shapes, sizes and ages invited to enter.

The closing date for the pageant, which can accommodate 90 participants, is Friday 1 September.

Up for grabs are prizes such as hair vouchers, make-up sets, food vouchers, gym membership, hair products, spa vouchers, perfume, facial products, luxury hampers and more.

This year, the pageant organiser is also hoping to give the winners a cash prize and are calling on sponsors to come on board.

All proceeds will go towards the Anti-Bullying Campaign run by the non-profit organisation (NPO) #42UNBREAKABLE.

“The NPO was established seven years ago by my sister Celita Jenecker(23) who is the CEO and founder. Celita was bullied by 42 children in her class for three years. My mother Barbara and I are the directors of #42UNBREAKABLE. We raise awareness on bullying around schools in the Western Cape, among youth and at community events,” says Kayla.

She says she started the pageant to raise funds for their Anti-Bullying Campaign.

“I was also bullied at school. Today I’m a marathon runner and a model. It goes to show that we are not who others say we are.

“I want to break boundaries, especially beauty standards. Fundamentally, I want to change the way young girls and women are viewed in society.

“I want women, young and old, to know their self-worth, to find their God-given purpose, regardless of their shape or size.”

Entries cost R150 per person in age categories 9-12, 13-17 and 18-25.
